Cooper (M) – in San Marcos, Texas (30 miles SW of Austin)

Cooper is one gorgeous four‑year‑old, 13.2‑lb Bichon with an especially plush, beautiful coat and more than his fair share of adorableness. This stunning, smart, highly active boy has had a few rough early years, with multiple moves.  Now he needs — and truly deserves — a stable, quiet home where he can finally exhale, settle in, and soak up all the love and devotion his human companion has to give.

Cooper is neutered and UTD on his vaccines. Because he doesn’t like to be alone for long and thrives on closeness, lovies, and steady affection, we are looking for a family where someone is home much of the time. He will also need a patient adopter who can give him a housetraining refresher.

Bichons his age are energetic, mischievous, curious, and often silly — and Cooper is no exception. He’ll need an adopter who can take him on nice long walks or engage him in other active games and activities to help drain his energy.  He isn’t a fan of car rides or crates.

We believe he should be an only dog so he can enjoy all of your pampering and attention, though we might consider placing him with a friendly male pup of similar size and energy. He will not be placed in a home with small children, but we believe a gentle teenager or young adult who respects his boundaries would be just fine.

If you’re looking for an amazing companion, playmate, lovebug, and entertainment center all rolled into one, Cooper may be your boy.

Romeo (M) And Samantha (F), a bonded pair in Hudson, FL (Adoption pending)

Romeo is a handsome ten-year-old, 12.5 lb. boy and Samantha is a beautiful seven-year-old, 13.4 lb. girl.  They were loved deeply and well cared for in the past but did not have a great deal of exposure to other people and animals.  Romeo tends to be more outgoing, and Samatha is on the shy side and may be fearful of people she hasn’t met.

They are currently being boarded and are doing great.  Both Romeo and Samantha are learning to feel comfortable with staff and other dogs there.  In fact, Romeo is eager to interact with visitors and get lots of attention and affection.  Samantha seems to be warming up to others.  We think it is only a matter of time until she is the affectionate cuddle bug we know she can be.

Both Bichons have recently been vetted, are spayed/neutered and are UTD on vaccinations.  Their medical records show they have had excellent veterinary care.  Both have recently been groomed and look absolutely adorable.  They are paper trained.  We are looking for an experienced adopter who can help this amazing pair realize their full potential as devoted Bichon companions and experience all the adventures and joys of their breed.   For now, we think they would do best in a quiet home where someone is home a lot.  While we won’t place them with children, we believe teenagers who respect their boundaries and treat them gently may be fine.  A fenced-in yard would give them a safe place to play together.

Will you offer these deserving dogs a new start in life?  By giving Samantha and Romeo a second chance, you will watch as these gentle souls rediscover safety, trust, and joy simply because you opened your heart and home.

Sugar (F) and Munchkin (F) in The Villages, FL

Sugar, a beautiful six-year-old Bichon, and Munchkin, a wonderful thirteen-year-old mixed heritage girl, are a deeply bonded pair. They have weathered many life challenges together, find comfort in each other’s presence and must be adopted together.

Munchkin is a curious, outgoing 11.5 lb. sweetheart. She approaches life with bravery, joy and an open heart.  At 13, she is slowing down a bit and has some arthritis in her legs, but her spirit remains bright.  She is fiercely independent and a loving big sister, surrogate mother and protector to Sugar. If she senses that Sugar is nervous, she stays right beside her.  She enjoys socializing on walks and is not above stealing an occasional sock from foster Dad – all part of her delightful personality.

Sugar, the adorable 13.9 lb. six-year-old Bichon, was raised to be afraid of people and dogs and is taking longer to overcome her difficult past but she is making great progress.  She is happiest in the quiet backyard where she can explore to her heart's content. She also likes to make cozy little dens for herself -- under the bed or under a desk, where she feels safest.  Sugar enjoys the comfort and safety of sleeping in a crate at night, while Munchkin is happiest on the big bed with her human companions.  Sugar adores playing with her stuffies, doing her zoomies and delighting her trusted human companions.

After years in less‑than‑ideal conditions, they are becoming content, stable, and happy dogs.  Both now adore their comfy dog beds and relish the security of family life. Sugar continues to gain confidence around other dogs, and both girls are thriving emotionally. Sugar and Munchkin are spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and fully vetted. Both pups are earning A’s in their housetraining. They have had no recent exposure to cats. We think a quiet, adult home would be best for now. Children over the age of 12 who would treat them gently and respect their boundaries might be a plus. A home with a fenced-in backyard where they can feel safe and can run around together would be wonderful.

Most importantly, they need a family who understands that they are not perfect — but who sees their beauty, resilience, and capacity for love.  In return, they will respond with kisses, snuggles and the kind of loyalty that arises in loving relationships. Munchkin and Sugar are true gems.
